Industrial supply and warehouse work is common in the
Ontario/Inland Empire. Many of these cases involve layers
of employers. Employment agencies pay the employee to be
managed and directed at somebody else's distribution
center. We sue both the staffing agency and the managing
employer.

Employee live scans are an important pre-employment
aspect of certain jobs including work with kids, security,
and various public sector jobs. In general many employers
have a number of pre-employment background and other tests
employees must pass before being hired.
We receive a number of new client inquiries from employees
who thought they would start working at a company, but were
never able to. These are often difficult cases due to
California employment laws.
Before quitting a job we recommend employees receive an
assurance in writing from an employee capable of binding
the company. The hire letter needs to omit at-will language
which is irrelevant if employees are never allowed to work.
Statements the letter does not create a contract are also
problematic. A letter could say once employment begins the
employee is subject to all normal employment practices if
the employer does not want to create a contract. Watch out
for letters that do not bind the company and give them the
option to cancel the new job before it starts.
The area of pre-employment terms is very complicated.
Please consult an employment lawyer before quitting a job
to take another.

This is the medium size conference room at Employment
Lawyers Group, San Bernardino in Ontario California. As a
labor lawyer I use conference tables frequently when I
take depositions of witnesses and adverse parties.
Depositions are under oath and can be read in court. They
are very important in determining what people will say at
arbitration or trial as well as figuring out how the case
might play out in court and what else needs to be done to
prove the case. I also use conference tables to interview
new clients including large groups of people.
